Can anyone recommend a good winery near San Francisco, which allows free guided tours?
I'll be in SF for a few days and plan to control to the Napa area, does anyone know a store that allows free guided tours? I really just want to enjoy the sights and scenery without having to be a group of tourists. Also good places to eat in the area?
Try Sterling Vineyards, Hess Collection and St. Supery for self-guided visits. However, these wineries are not the most impressive arthitecturally in the valley. Most of these are open only for guided tours (Unless you are a member of your club wines). And because much of it is intended groups of tourists, it is not so easy to find good food as expected. If you can make your own food, that's what I would suggest. Otherwise, mustards and Martini has a good reputation for its friendly, gourmet meals at reasonable prices. The Armstrong Redwoods SNR and Sonoma Lake are excellent places for a quiet ride. There are also about a beautiful Bodega Bay coast and the stations along the Russian River. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=450 http://www.russianrivertravel.com/ http://www. bodegabay.com / index.shtml commercialistic There are also scenic spots as the geyser Old Faithful and West Safari Animal Park. http://www.oldfaithfulgeyser.com/ http://www.safariwest.com/
