What are the must see places / wineries in Napa CA?
Not in search of huge warehouses, but really the best wine / more eclectic. Also, is there any good resorts or restaurants you should visit?
I live in Napa, so I think I can help. Winery: Charles Krug in Santa Elena, one of the oldest wineries in the valley, pleasant grounds and atmosphere and good wine. Reynolds Family Winery in Napa, fun, enjoyable experience of the test. Arts Napa, the only modern building and grounds on top of a hill, nice views and enjoy a good wine. Beringer in St. Helena, is a large, but has a great tour architecture and beautiful grounds and is historically significant. Robert Mondavi in Oakville, a large, but beautiful and legendary. Hess Collection in Napa has a gallery of art in the installation, peculiar and interesting. Domain Chandon in Yountville, tour highlights the process of sparkling wine, modern architecture, tasting in a charming courtyard. Prager Portworks in Santa Elena, hidden gem, family-run, usually a family member staying at a small intimate room, tasting cobwebs a barn. Hard to find in the dirt road west side of Highway 29 between the restaurant and wine cellar Press Sutter Home, just north of V. Sattui, who also is a pleasant stop. Having a gourmet deli and wine picnicing available only at the winery. Restaurants: Napa: Coles Chop House ($), Angele, Cuvee, Mambo Sushi, Red Hen Cantina (Mexico), Uva (live jazz on weekends). Yountville: Bistro Jeanty (first selection), Hurley, Redd ($), Napa Valley Grill. Saint Helena: Casa Martini ($), Market, Greystone (at the Culinary Institute of America), Terra ($) Calistoga: Brannan, All Seasons, Calistoga Inn, a small barbecue hut at the intersection of Highway 29 and Lincoln Avenue (the main drag in Calistoga), a great barbecue lunch. ($) = Can be a bit expensive, but worth the penalty ..
